Village Idiot Review by J. Lynn Pirch

Originally from Winston Salem, this MC has a cool, comedic wit and vocal style that puts him miles ahead of the game...

he knows his way around a verse, so I wouldn’t be surprised if his freestyles were worth bootlegging...

....not to mention the explosive attitude and boom-box-ability of other hip hop circles with hometown type roots, like Little Brother. Ignite Mindz brings the everyday back into a genre that has been overloaded with hype and buzzwords of late, and that puts him in a class of his own.

Groundlift Magazine Review by DJ Trew

flips the script completely with a hefty album of soul stirring beats and thought provoking rhymes....

Touching on topics from politics, near death experiences, to story rhymes and party and bullshit type jams, Mindz shows his versatility while avoiding “making music that only other MC’s would appreciate.” On the production side, we’re blessed with head nodders that serve a bigger purpose than to smack you in the face. Creating a definite atmosphere...

Vann Digital Review for Smooth

Ignite Mindz and his wife Kayla Marie just released a music video for their brand new single "Smooth" featuring Mike L!ve. The vibe of the song can be described by one line from the first verse. “Skip work hit the road in a drop top.” It’s laid-back yet upbeat. Like that feeling you to get as soon as your vacation starts, knowing you can finally relax but at the same time you’re all hyped up. Jazzy guitar over trap drums with a gorgeous chorus by Kayla Marie. The video features Ignite playing the chopped up jazz guitar sample across the keys and pads on his Roland Fantom.

Vann Digital Review for Like

Ignite Mindz is a rapper/producer from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He’s done songs with Wordsworth and opened for Naughty By Nature.

Ignite has equal respect for the new school and the Golden Eras and it shows here. This new track, called "Like", has a gorgeous horn section with keys and a bass line that hits you right in the feels.

808s are great but sometimes a thick bass guitar is irreplaceable. Ignite floats amongst the instruments talking about focusing on the important things, celebrating the wins and recuperating from the grind

"But what’s even doper is the track “Get Your Hands High” by Ignite and Imagery! This joint is off their recently released album Gimmick Free which dropped on July 20. I’m about to check the balance in my checking account and head over to iTunes to grab this now!"

Kevin Nottingham - www.kevinnottingham.com

"their album Gimmick Free is built on both solid wordsmithery and an arsenal of tasteful, unobtrusive samples that recall the Golden Age of hip-hop hooks. Far more soulful than booty-bumping"

Ryan Snyder - Yes! Weekly

"it is an album that demands a close listen for what it does well: being an accessible and sophisticated work"
